
Out and About: The area around La Petite Aubaine
La Petite Aubaine is located 2 kilometres outside the village of Viersat. It is truly a rural retreat.
You either need your own car or you need to book one of our special on-site breaks.
It is a 20-minute drive to the historic town of Montluçon. Here the cobbled streets wind through the fortified town. There is lots to do from the Saturday market to cinemas, restaurants and internet cafés.

Using small country lanes you can get to the beautiful towns of Evaux-les-Bains and Chambon-sur-Voueize.

Further away, but still within an easy drive are the towns of St Amand-Montrond and Bourges and the countryside around with its arable farms.
To the north west lies the George Sand country, around La Châtre, for the romantics amongst you.
There is great wine at Châteaumeillant.
The main road to Gueret, is mostly dual carriageway now and leads to one of the prettiest towns in France.
La Souterraine is full of history and Argenton-sur-Creuse has a Roman museum.
The cities of Limoges, famous for its porcelain; Vichy, seat of the French Government during World War Two and famous for its spas and mineral water; and Clermont Ferrand, are all easily accessible by car.
There is also the Bourbon heartland, to visit, where there are castles and pageants galore to enjoy, plus the forest of Tronçais.
Discover the departmental town of Moulins and the wine producing area around St Pourçain-sur-Sioule.
Whichever direction you choose you will never be disappointed and these places are all within easy reach for a relaxed and enjoyable holiday.
